Nunku (palm fruit) and chocolate tea

Here are some pictures of the weird mystery nunku palm fruit. They cost 10 cents each and you got the show of the salesman slashing the palm fruit open with his machete. Here is what wikipdeia has to say.

Those little fruity coins--are those all you get after all the machete action?

Also--you didn't say if you tried the chocolate tea. I wish our culture (that is American culture, whatever that means) were older so that we'd have more cool foods that we'd been perfecting. Though, having just been south (as in Georgia), I see that maybe we are on our way. mmm. molasses and fried green tomatoes and stuff made with butter.
